Alex Costopoulos
Chief Legal Officer
Alex Costopoulos began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney in Florida. In 2001, Mr. Costopoulos left the State Attorney’s Office and chose to focus his practice on civil litigation emphasizing community association law, construction, corporate, and contract matters. He represented many HOAs, condos, and timeshares. He found his passion helping resorts be the best they could be. While in private practice, he worked for several legacy timeshares helping them successfully terminate and replace their management companies and handle their litigation needs including developer and vendor litigation and regulatory investigations. He also assisted with interpretation and amendment of governing documents, collection efforts, preparation of opinion letters, vendor contract review, re-allocation of reserve funds, and proper imposition of special assessments.
Nearly a decade later, one of his largest timeshare clients decided it wanted his services full-time and invited him to come in-house. He left behind his primarily litigation-focused work in private practice and dove into the daily needs of keeping a large legacy timeshare operating smoothly. He developed forms including deeds, contracts, and instructions for owners, educational and training materials for owners and employees, association governance documents including notices, agendas, ballots, proxies, corporate resolutions, and minutes, regulatory matters including liquor license changes, amenities upgrades, expansion and capital upgrades, MRTA, DBPR, and ADA compliance. Most importantly, he became a key contributor to the long-term strategic planning for the resort.
In 2017, Mr. Costopoulos was instrumental in helping to develop a small rental-management firm into a first-class hospitality operation providing a broad range of unbundled expert services to timeshare resorts. After 21 years as an attorney, 17 of those years spent helping resorts, he is more passionate than ever doing what he loves.
